Prince William proved he's 'ready to be king' by addressing royal drama, says author

A royal author has said Prince William’s response to a drama in Buckingham Palace shows he’s ready to be king, when Charles is no longer on the throne. He claims the response from the Prince of Wales was ‘remarkable’ different to how The Firm deals with controversies in the past.

Omid Scobie, author of new bombshell book Endgame, says William ruffled feathers by stepping out of usual protocol with a statement following an incident at a palace party in 2022. Scobie, who also penned the book Finding Freedom in favor of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, made the comments in his new release. The commentator alleges his actions prove Prince William is ready to prove he is ‘ready’ to be King.

The lady-in-waiting and a royal scandal

Lady Susan Hussey, who was Queen Elizabeth II‘s lady-in-waiting, was caught up in controversy after a conversation with a charity boss made the news.

Lady Susan apologized and resigned after she repeatedly asked a black British boss where she was “really from”.

Ngozi Fulani was questioned about her ancestry background at a charity event at the palace in late November 2022. Ms Fulani later said she was “totally stunned” by the comments by Prince William’s godmother.

The palace also released a statement: “We take this incident extremely seriously and have investigated immediately to establish the full details.

“In this instance, unacceptable and deeply regrettable comments have been made. We have reached out to Ngozi Fulani on this matter, and are inviting her to discuss all elements of her experience in person if she wishes.

“In the meantime, the individual concerned would like to express her profound apologies for the hurt caused and has stepped aside from her honorary role with immediate effect.

“All members of the household are being reminded of the diversity and inclusivity policies which they are required to uphold at all times.”

A spokesperson from Prince William responded to the incident, and said “racism has no place in our society”.

They added: “The comments were unacceptable, and it is right that the individual has stepped aside with immediate effect.

The 84-year-old was a close friend of the former monarch, and attended Prince Philip‘s funeral by her side in 2021. As part of her royal role of supporting the Queen, she also helped to host events at Buckingham Palace.

Prince William’s response shows he’s ‘ready to be king’

Omid Scobie says the Prince of Wales’ spokesperson’s response to the incident was “remarkably different”.

He writes: “This was a swift rebuke and a remarkable different PR response to what we’ve come to expect from the Palace.

“William’s decisive action on the matter demonstrates that he is willing to act independently, and added a source, is proof that he is unwilling to dither and defer to Buckingham Palace when a situation demands an immediate, resolute response.

“As the heir to the throne, he’s savvy enough to know these are moments he can leverage to show the public (and the institution) that he’s his own man, and one ready to be king.

“His father, said sources, didn’t share the same approach. ‘It was rash… knee-jerk response’. a Buckingham Palace source remarked. ‘The feeling was they wanted to disassociate, instead of thinking as a team.'”

Royal book comes under fire for ‘Dutch translation printing error’

It comes after reports Scobie’s Dutch version mistakenly named two royal family members who are alleged to have made comments over Archie‘s skin color before he was born.

The allegations first came out in 2021, when Meghan Markle and Harry sat down with Oprah Winfrey. The royal couple made many allegations during the tell-all chat with their celebrity pal. One of the shocking claims was that Harry was involved in a conversation with a senior royal who made comments on what Archie’s skin color would be, with Meghan being his mother.

During the TV interview, Harry explained he would never name the individuals.

But a recent report claimed two names were named in the Dutch translated version of the book and had to be pulled from the shelves.

Author Scobie denied that any version of his book had named two members of The Firm. He also confirmed he wrote and edited the English version, but does not write or speak Dutch, and the printing firm dealt with all translations. He denied that they were named.

It’s not the first time the palace and William respond

After the Oprah interview, the palace and William spoke out.

At the time, Buckingham Palace said: “The whole family is saddened to learn the full extent of how challenging the last few years have been for Harry and Meghan.

“The issues raised, particularly that of race, are concerning. While some recollections may vary, they are taken very seriously and will be addressed by the family privately.

“Harry, Meghan and Archie will always be much loved family members.”

Prince William also made a comment to a group of reporters the next day, something similar to the Lady Susan incident, which Scobie said was him ‘proving he can rule as King’.

He told the press that the royal family were “very much not racist”, when he was making an official visit.
